Renfe expands weekend rail seat sales with 8.39 million seats and Avlo 106 expansion

Renfe announced on Friday the start of ticket sales for roughly half a million seats on its high speed and long distance trains for the upcoming weekend. The move accompanies the return holiday travel surge, as travelers resume trips after the vacation period.

The operator has boosted its usual capacity by adding about 20,000 extra seats to the most in-demand routes. The enhanced offers focus on the high traffic corridors to Madrid and Barcelona, as well as areas that form the Mediterranean arc.

In a notice released this evening, Renfe indicated that the routes with the strongest supply and demand during the summer season have been those connecting Madrid with Andalusia, the Community of Valencia, and the northern regions of the country.

From July 1 to September 15, the company has offered 8.39 million seats for travel on its high speed and long distance trains. This represents a notable increase in capacity, supported mainly by the addition of the new Avlo 106 services operating between Madrid, Galicia, and Asturias, with 581 seats, the highest capacity in the Spanish rail market, according to the company.
