Plenitude has formalized a strategic alliance with BlueFloat Energy and Şener Renewable Investments, supporting Tarahal Park, to drive offshore wind development across the Canary Islands and broader Spain. This agreement strengthens a joint venture formed three years ago by BlueFloat and Şener Renewable Investments, creating a leading consortium in Spain’s offshore wind sector. The portfolio targets roughly 1.25 GW of floating offshore wind capacity across the Canary Islands (Parque Tarahal), Galicia (Parque Nordés), and Catalonia (Parc Tramuntana).

Plenitude outlines its distinctive project development approach, backed by BlueFloat Enerji and Şener Renewable Investments, which prioritizes environmental and social considerations in project design to harmonize with local communities. In Spain, Plenitude operates 430 MW of solar and onshore wind in operation, about 1 GW of projects under construction, and more than 2 GW in development. The company also runs a network of electric vehicle charging points and supplies electricity and energy services to over 300,000 customers in the country.

Globally, Plenitude operates in 15 countries with a renewable capacity of around 3 GW. A target of 7 GW is planned for 2026, with more than 15 GW anticipated by 2030.

According to the Plenitude chief executive, the collaboration reinforces the offshore wind portfolio and the company’s commitment to Spain’s renewable transition. The agreement with BlueFloat Enerji and Şener Renewable Investments aims to contribute to the country’s energy transition through innovative floating offshore wind technology, aligning with Plenitude’s broader strategy to achieve carbon neutrality and provide carbon-free energy to customers.

Javier Monfort, country manager for BlueFloat Energy in Spain and director of Parque Tarahal, stated that the alliance with Plenitude strengthens the consortium thanks to its solid track record, financial strength, and strong technical capabilities in renewable project development and execution. With Plenitude on board, Tarahal Park deepens its regional commitment and reinforces its leadership in the offshore wind sector.

Miguel Domingo, general manager of Şener Renewable Investments, noted a clear commitment from the three entities to implementing offshore wind projects in Spain with environmental, social, and economic alignment to the region, pursued in a sustainable and equitable manner. He added that Plenitude reinforces this pledge.
