During the night, the Air Defense Forces destroyed 104 Ukrainian drones inside Russian airspace, according to the Defense Ministry. The agency outlined regional results: Kursk reported 47 drones shot down, Bryansk 27, Smolenskaya 7, and Tverskaya 7. Belgorod, Nizhny Novgorod and Kaluga regions each faced four drones, while Rostov and Leningrad regions experienced a separate wave. In several districts, the losses appeared higher than the official tallies, with some areas reporting more drone activity than others.
The nuclear object was attacked
Vasily Anokhin, governor of the Smolensk region, said that overnight the armed forces targeted civilian facilities in the region. He stated that one drone attempted an attack on a nuclear energy facility and was shot down. No casualties or damage were reported. He urged residents to remain calm and avoid open spaces.
The governor asked inhabitants to stay away from windows, not to interfere with air defense equipment, and not to approach any drones. Anokhin did not specify which nuclear facility was targeted. To the south of the Smolensk region lies the Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant near Desnogorsk, a major energy facility that supplies a large share of regional electricity. The plant’s press service reported normal operation.
Attack on the oil industry
Gleb Nikitin, governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, reported a fire in the area after fragments from a drone fell into the Kstovskaya industrial zone. Firefighters were working to extinguish the blaze, and there were no injuries. Drones were described as targeting the local oil sector. Residents reported hearing drone sounds and several explosions, though no official confirmation was available at that moment.
Governor Igor Rudeny noted that at night they repelled an attack involving 29 drones in the Toropetsk and Andreapol districts; the Defense Ministry reported seven UAVs shot down. Preliminary data indicated no casualties or destruction, with operational services on site and regional leadership monitoring the situation. The drones were said to have targeted the Transneft Baltic oil pumping station. The channel reported six UAVs were destroyed around 01:00 as they approached the facility, but debris started a fire at the station. Firefighters took several hours to bring the blaze under control.
The situation in other regions
Air defense systems shot down a Ukrainian drone over Lake Ladoga near the shore of the Vsevolozhsky district in the Leningrad region, according to regional governor Alexander Drozdenko. He said there were no casualties or damage. Bryansk region governor Alexander Bogomaz announced 26 drones entered the region, including three missiles. In total, 27 drones were shot by air defense and six more by the Russian Guard regional units. He stressed that there were no casualties.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, head of the Belgorod region, reported two drones were shot down with no injuries. In surrounding areas another 16 drones were reported; 14 were intercepted by air defenses. A private house was damaged. A drone attacked Zarechny with no reported injuries or damage. Four drones were shot down in the Valuysky district. In the villages of Grainovor, Gorkovsky, Bezimino, Kozinka and Novostroevka, 13 drones were reported. In one city a drone strike damaged an apartment building and injured two people, one of whom required emergency surgery for a chest wound while the other sustained a shoulder injury. The bombardment and drone activity damaged three multi‑storey buildings, a social facility, 17 cars and ten apartments in a private house.
Four drones were reported in Nazesy, Grafovka, Demidovka and Kolotilovka, with damage to a social object, power lines and a private house. Two drones were shot down near the Prokhorovsky region. In Shabekino, Voznesenovka, Murom, Novo Tolzhanka and Pankov’s Farm, 18 drones were reported, 16 of which were eliminated, with no further casualties.
Kaluga region governor Vladislav Shapsha said a Ukrainian drone was shot down at night in the Kozelsky district; no injuries or destruction followed. Yuri Slyusar, governor of the Rostov region, confirmed a drone was forced down in the Myasnikovsky district, with no injuries or damage. Late at night the Federal Air Transport Agency limited the operation of Kazan and St. Petersburg airports, with several flights diverted or not accepted for a period. Three aircraft bound for Kazan redirected to spare airports.
