Inside the vehicle, two detainees were found, along with a Russian woman seated in the back and displaying the restraints used during the incident to the officers.
The couple was abducted shortly after six o’clock on a Sunday afternoon in the PAU 5 area of Alicante, near the San Juan coastline, according to local reporting. Victims stated that they were approached by individuals in the garage of a housing development in PAU 5, identifying themselves as police and displaying badges associated with law enforcement.
Two suspects of Spanish nationality allegedly demanded the surrender of their mobile phones and compelled them to enter a car. Alongside them, a Russian interpreter assisted as they communicated with the victims and explained the goal of obtaining the Russian citizen’s digital keys to access a cryptocurrency wallet. The man led investigators to a friend’s residence in El Campello, while attempting to sound an alarm at an opportune moment by requesting the access code for the digital assets. One kidnapper fled the scene, while the other two remained with the Russian woman in the car. Later, the private detective was taken into custody in Alicante, marking a pivotal development in the case.
