Alfonso institution education gave rise to a pioneering Faculty of Business and Technology. It stands as the first faculty in Spain to blend business education with technology, guiding students to apply and lead technology within the business world. The aim is to generate ideas that are effective, scalable, and responsive to real-world needs.

“The pace at which enabling technologies are adopted is reshaping business models, the relationship between company and customer, and the way we learn. It also profoundly transforms professions, and universities have a responsibility to prepare students to understand technology with purpose and to integrate it fully into their professional lives,” noted the rector of Alfonso X el Sabio University.

Technological advances have become the engine of change in the business landscape, enabling companies to innovate, grow, and stay competitive in a continually evolving labor market. A convergence between technology and management now drives the full integration of digital capabilities into business leadership, creating demand for talent with new digital and technical competencies.

Industry leaders emphasize this shift toward tech-driven growth. A representative from Santander Universities underlines the need for professionals who can participate in this new scenario to sustain growth and contribute to global development. Another executive highlighted how information technology has moved from a support function to a core element of business strategy.

The School of Business and Technology reflects a long-standing educational model and methodologies aligned with labor market needs. For three decades, it has offered degrees in fields that bridge technology and commerce, including Artificial Intelligence and Computing, Business Analytics, Mathematical Engineering, Physics, Marketing, Law, and Business Administration. Technological degrees now often include a certificate in business, such as a Digital Business Certificate paired with a Mathematical Engineering degree, while business degrees may carry a technology component, like a Transformation Support Certificate alongside a Business Administration degree.

Leaders in the tech and consulting sectors emphasize practical training as essential. They argue that understanding technology requires knowing how it applies in real-world contexts and that students must be prepared to adapt to rapid market changes. Collaboration between educational institutions and industry players is viewed as crucial to training talent with the skills companies truly need. The new Faculty of Business and Technology is presented as a direct response to this demand, bringing together academia and industry to shape capable graduates.

This need is addressed through the UAXmakers methodology, which engages students in real projects aligned with the 2030 Agenda alongside leading companies. Partners include Quirónsalud, CaixaBank, Avanade, Ecoalf, and Telefónica. The Faculty of Business and Technology also offers robust support to students, including mentors and coaches, and connects learners with global corporations, organizations, and professionals to inspire purpose and help students discover their professional calling.

New Campus

The Faculty of Business and Technology awards degrees at the long-established Villanueva de la Cañada campus and now at a new vertical urban campus near Madrid’s business hub at Arapiles 13. These facilities create an ecosystem where students, researchers, startups, companies, and investors come together to learn through dialogue and joint projects. The Arapiles campus spans 12,000 square meters across 18 floors and features spaces designed for collaboration, including a Liquid Studio where students work alongside established companies and startups; a Fab Lab equipped with cutting-edge tools for technology projects, 3D printers, laser cutters, robots, and virtual reality design; and a Rooftop offering 360-degree views of Madrid to inspire students and professionals on the new campus.

The new building completes a multi-campus experience, bringing the world of business closer to students in a setting that mirrors American-style university life, right in the heart of Madrid.
