At Ukraine’s request, NATO will host a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council at NATO’s headquarters on Tuesday 26 November, according to allied officials.

The gathering will be held at ambassador level, they confirmed.

The NATO-Ukraine Council is a consultative forum for Allies and Ukraine on security issues of common interest, including Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

Separately, NATO said this week that the launch of an experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile by Russia against Ukraine will not deter the Allies from continuing to support Kyiv.

The deployment of this capability will not alter the course of the conflict nor deter NATO members from backing Ukraine, the alliance spokesperson said.

The spokesperson noted that Russia fired on Thursday an experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile against Ukraine, describing it as another example of Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Russia aims to terrorize the civilian population and intimidate those who support Ukraine in its defense against what was described as Russia’s illegal and unprovoked aggression.

President Vladimir Putin confirmed the attack using a hypersonic missile without a nuclear payload and stated that Moscow reserves the right to use its arsenal against military facilities in countries that allow Kyiv to use missiles to strike Russian territory.

He argued that Russia employed this capability in response to Ukraine’s use of long-range American and British weapons against targets on Russian soil as part of its defense against the attacks.

Putin, who this week approved a new doctrine that allows responses with nuclear weapons in case of attacks with conventional weapons, warned that the deployment of Western long-range weapons against Russian territory would bring NATO into conflict with Russia.
