El Nacional Pyme of the Year honors small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that stand out for excellence, innovation, and their contribution to economic development across areas such as innovation, internationalization, sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and talent management. This recognition aims to spark entrepreneurial spirit and promote solid business practices. The prize not only elevates visibility but also helps these firms establish networks and open fresh business opportunities.
Five finalists are celebrated for 2023: Diagnostica Longwood S.L. from Zaragoza; Eave – Canaria Electricidad de Energías Renovables y Movilidad S.L. from Santa Cruz de Tenerife; GHI Hornos Industriales S.L.U. from Vizcaya; Meins Consulting S.L. from Salamanca; and Meltio from Jaén. These firms compete for the National SME of the Year award, a prize organized by Banco Santander and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to the National SME of the Year Award, four special recognitions will be presented. In the Internationalization category, finalists include Toni Pons S.A. from Girona; Iturcemi S.L. from Asturias; Ecoforest Geotermia S.L. from Pontevedra; and Onix Cerámica S.L. from Castellón.
In the Innovation and Digitalization category, Balantia Energy Solutions & Technologies S.L. from the Balearic Islands; Ecapture Research and Development S.L. from Badajoz; Multiverse Computing S.L. from Guipúzcoa; Satelio IoT Service S.L. from Barcelona compete. The Training and Employment Special Award will be contended by Atridel Engineering Development & Design from Cádiz; Gurbtec Iguana Telecom S.L. from Barcelona; Ibecon 2003 S.L. from Valladolid; and Pum Tours Media Spain S.L. from Madrid.
The Final National Special Award, the Sustainable SME, will go to one of four candidates: Amapola Biocosmetics S.L.U. from Segovia; ID Energy Group S.A. from Ciudad Real; Nazaríes Information Technologies S.L. from Granada; and Tresca Ingeniería S.A. from León.
Each company submitted its candidacy by explaining how it excelled in the specific areas and by providing concrete examples of its work. The jury carefully reviewed every nomination and selected twenty-one firms that demonstrated leadership within their respective categories. This seventh edition of the National SME of the Year drew 1,740 applications from 50 provinces. The event involved 52 regional Chambers of Commerce and 13 territorial offices of Banco Santander, along with the main regional newspaper outlets.
