National Police Conducts Broad Preventive Security Sweep in Alicante and Valencia Regions
In a concerted effort to curb crime through preventive security checks, National Police officers arrested six individuals in separate incidents across the northern district of Alicante and Colonia Santa Isabel. The operation involved multiple specialized units including the Response Operational Group for the Northern and Central Regions, the Provincial Police Station’s Air Media Unit, and the Alicante Prevention and Reaction Unit. The operation also benefited from close cooperation with the Valencia Community Police, as well as local police forces in Alicante and surrounding municipalities.
The day began with the dismantling of a building identified as a high-risk location for narcotics distribution. A retail establishment that operates around the clock was inspected due to ongoing concerns about its role in distributing small quantities of illegal drugs to a steady stream of customers. In a coordinated afternoon intervention, a couple was apprehended after officers from the Narcotics Group at the Alicante Northern Regional Police Station executed a search of their residence. They uncovered quantities of cocaine, heroin in various forms including base, and other narcotics prepared for sale. Investigators also found money believed to be proceeds, a precision scale, and a high-end vehicle linked to the operation.
Items recovered during these checks at police checkpoints in Alicante were recorded and cataloged for evidentiary purposes. The operation thus far has demonstrated the effectiveness of joint patrols and rapid response tactics in identifying and interrupting illicit activities that threaten public health and safety.
The police teams reported a total of 143 people checked and 54 vehicles stopped. Of these, three individuals were arrested on charges including theft and other crimes affecting traffic safety. In addition, 33 reports were filed for possession or consumption of drugs and 3 reports for possession of weapons. The actions also resulted in the removal of two vehicles from circulation, one due to DUI and the other for lacking valid license plates. In another incident, a high-end mobile phone reported as stolen was recovered during a search.

The deployment concluded with the Northern Regional Investigation Group and Generalitat Police conducting a search of a business facility. One person was arrested on charges related to reception, fraud and drug trafficking, and the seizure included electronic devices, small quantities of drugs such as cocaine and cannabis, several mobile phones, approximately 700 euros in cash and counterfeit notes (including two hundred euro bills). In addition, a number of administrative violation reports were prepared by district police officers, including one related to the hiring of an uninsured employee.
The Provincial Police Department emphasised that these coordinated operations aimed to stop all forms of criminal activity and to protect public health by tackling drug trafficking and crimes affecting cultural heritage and property. The National Police confirmed its commitment to employing every available resource—material, technical, and human—to combat narcotic distribution and related property crimes, acknowledging the broad harm such offenses cause to society as a whole.
