Multiple traffic incidents in Alicante prompt review of road safety measures
In Alicante, a sequence of traffic incidents unfolded within a single day, affecting four people in distinct crashes. Emergency responders, including the coordinated CICU unit and Local Police, documented each event, and none of the involved individuals sustained life-threatening injuries. One incident began when a pedestrian crossing with her dog was struck by a vehicle. The dog required veterinary care for the impact, and both the woman and the dog were evaluated for injuries at the scene.
A second collision occurred at a busy intersection around 8:00 in the morning along Boulevard Condes de Soto Ameno. Regional police investigators reported that a motorcycle and a car were initially involved, with the motorbike allegedly veering onto the sidewalk after the crash.
Several responders arrived to manage the scene, including local police patrols, a SAMU ambulance crew, and two Basic Life Support units. CICU confirmed that the SAMU team treated two injured individuals, among them a pedestrian, both showing visible bruising from the incident.
The first person injured in this event, a 20-year-old, was taken by SVB ambulance to Doctor Balmis General Hospital in Alicante. A second injured person, an 18-year-old male, was transported to Hospital de Sant Joan d’Alacant by another SVB ambulance.
Later that afternoon, at 5:15 pm on Tuesday, CICU issued a notice about a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on the Ocaña highway within the Alicante municipality. In response, a SAMU unit and a conventional ambulance were dispatched. The SAMU crew attended to a 34-year-old motorcyclist who suffered multiple injuries and was subsequently moved by an Advanced Life Support ambulance to Doctor Balmis General Hospital.
A third incident occurred on Tuesday morning on journalist Rodolfo Salazar street in Alicante. A 27-year-old woman reported being struck at a pedestrian crossing while accompanying her dog, with both the woman and the dog sustaining injuries. The woman described that, after the collision, the driver’s wife made repeated insults, and the male driver allegedly claimed to be seeking money and presented himself as an insurance broker who offered unhelpful responses to the situation.

The woman recounted taking the dog to a veterinarian after the crash. The dog reportedly has a missing right eye and is 12 years old. She explained that she held the dog by the seat belt as they prepared to cross the street. The driver stated that the woman had jumped into the path of the car, while she maintained she was crossing legally and was attempting to contact the police when the driver and passengers allegedly escalated the situation.
The pedestrian also visited a veterinary clinic, where the animal was noted to be somewhat unwell with inflammation at the impact site near the left eye. The woman herself went to the emergency department complaining of wrist pain and visible bruising from trying to shield herself and the dog from the impact. She noted her occupation as a flight attendant and said the injuries have affected her ability to perform duties that require hand use.
Collectively, the incidents drew attention to road safety concerns in the Alicante area. Authorities coordinated response efforts and provided medical care to those involved. The CICU and Local Police continue to review the circumstances of each crash, emphasizing careful behavior at intersections and pedestrian crossings. The public is urged to remain vigilant and follow traffic signals to reduce the risk of similar injuries in the future.
