Mossos d’Esquadra in Girona detained four individuals on June 20, and two women aged between 26 and 36, as part of an investigation into violent robberies, intimidation, electricity fraud, and membership in a criminal organization.
Earlier, on December 21, 2022, officers from the Girona Criminal Investigation District learned a crime had been committed: a violent and intimidating robbery carried out with a firearm inside a residence in Palau-Saverdera (Lower Empordà), with the homeowners present at the scene.
A man dressed in black, at dawn, violently confronted a resident as he left his home. The intruder claimed to be a police officer, and, applying substantial force, forced him back inside. Once the resident was restrained, the thief tied him and his wife in a room. With the prisoner immobilized, the attackers entered more easily and looted the home, taking a substantial amount of cash stored in a vault.

The Mossos d’Esquadra launched a major operation in the early hours of June 20, following the initial investigation, which confirmed the criminal organization’s involvement in the robbery and its connections to other public health crimes.
During the operation, authorities seized 61,600 euros in cash, six mobile phones, two portable transceivers, a BB pistol, an extendable baton, a defensive spray, a wool cap, a wig, and two boxes containing ammunition: 22 caliber rounds and ten cartridges of 6.35 caliber.
In Empuriabrava and Girona, additional properties linked to the same criminal group were found to house 647 plants and marijuana cuttings, along with 5.3 pounds of cannabis ready for distribution.
On June 23, the detainees, some of whom have prior criminal records, were presented to the Figueres Court for trial. The investigation remains active, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests.
