The body of a 30-year-old woman was found this morning in the back seat of a car parked next to a church on Veshnyakovskaya Street in east Moscow, according to the metropolitan prosecutor’s office. The victim appeared to have been struck in the head, and she did not survive the injuries.
Initial reporting quickly identified the deceased as Veronika Kazyk. Police officials said officers were already conducting operational search activities as the investigation began. It was noted that the woman’s body was discovered by her husband, who had been unable to reach her at home.
The husband, concerned when she did not return home as expected, went out to look for her and located the body inside a car. A red Peugeot was observed near their residence at the time of discovery, according to statements from local authorities. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case accusing someone of murder.
“Her ex-husband threatened to kill her”
In Moscow, Kazyk was known to work in cleaning services and to participate in volunteer activities. One of her employers, as reported by socialbites.ca, indicated that her ex-husband held Ukrainian citizenship and had family connections in the Poltava region.
“A Ukrainian citizen who was married to a Russian, he supported relatives in Ukraine with his earnings and was known to bring his entire family along. He appeared to be a kind person in public, occasionally helping with cleaning tasks. Just yesterday I transferred money to him, and I am deeply affected by what happened,” explained the entrepreneur.
According to Kazyk’s statements, she had gone through a divorce, though the process had been lengthy and difficult.
“Her ex-husband repeatedly threatened to kill her. He wanted to take control of the apartment they shared and the car they owned together. I don’t have all the specifics. He did not contact the police, but he changed his residence and the car he drove. He recently turned 30,” added the employer.
gun found
Yulia Ivanova, a senior assistant to the head of the UK regional department, told RIA News that the suspect, Kazyk’s ex-husband, had already been arrested on suspicion of murder.
“The identity of the man suspected of killing the woman born in 1992 has been established. He has been detained and will soon be transferred to a unit within the department for further investigative processing,” she stated.
The suspect is reported to be 65 years old. He was detained at a residence on Reutovskaya Street. Photos circulating on social networks show him posing with firearms, including one image in which he points a gun toward the camera and another where he holds both a rifle and a pistol.
According to information from the Telegram channel 112, Mykola Grubnyak admitted to the murder and indicated cooperation with investigators.
Preliminary information suggests a gun was found at Grubnyak’s home and is believed to have been used in the shooting of his former wife. Grubnyak did not resist when taken into custody.
Neighbors of the deceased reported seeing Grubnyak in the hours before the incident and noted he appeared to be intoxicated. CCTV footage later published by prosecutors showed a man dressed in dark clothing approaching the car before leaving the scene at a slow pace.
apartment court
In September 2021, the Perovsky court ordered the eviction of the spouses from their communal apartment, where they had lived since 2014, according to MK.
The plaintiff claimed to have purchased a room in the apartment as property under a donation agreement. However, eight years earlier Grubnyak moved in without a formal record and began residing there with his wife, creating a complicated situation.
The report notes that the owner’s rights in the living space were acknowledged, but the court did not specify where the couple would live in the future. The case highlights the tensions surrounding shared housing and property ownership in the wake of a contested separation.
