Marbella Drug Operation Unfolds Near Central San Pedro Alcántara Coffee Shop
Police forces carried out a coordinated operation in the early hours of a June morning in Marbella, focusing on a busy central area of San Pedro Alcántara. Investigators traced intelligence to a popular coffee shop that had become a focal point for alleged drug activity, particularly involving cannabis distributed in unusually large quantities. In the course of the operation, two individuals were detained outside the premises as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The Provincial Police Department released details indicating that the seizure included a substantial amount of cannabis and related products. Among the confiscated items were several large cannabis joints and other paraphernalia linked to the alleged trafficking operation. The two detainees, a man aged 33 and a woman aged 39, face accusations tied to drug trafficking and are currently under investigation by regional judicial authorities.
Initial findings from the Marbella Local Police Station Judicial Police Local Brigade point to a pattern of activity near the coffee shop that suggested regular, covert transactions. The case began with information about rising drug consumption in the area and the emergence of a routine that drew attention from residents and shop staff alike.
During continued surveillance, officers observed individuals entering the establishment and exiting shortly after an apparent exchange, leading investigators to hypothesize a delivery or distribution mechanism operating on site. The method appeared to hinge on a discreet influx of buyers and a discrete hand-to-hand transfer that could be concealed within the casual foot traffic of the street.
Corroborating concerns, police documented frequent marijuana purchases associated with regular customers frequenting the vicinity, reinforcing the early suspicions about an illicit network functioning under the radar of everyday commerce. The investigative team pursued these leads until June 14, when authorities acted to secure the scene and preserve evidence for the judicial process.
On the day of the intervention, the Marbella Fifth Court of Investigation oversaw the operation and authorized steps to seize both cash and materials tied to the alleged illicit trade. The on-site actions resulted in the seizure of approximately 2,160 grams of cannabis, 663 grams of hashish, 397 cannabis joints including several XL-size variants, and cash totaling 372 euros. In addition, investigators collected assorted documents that are now part of the case file and will be examined to establish the scope of the operation and identify additional individuals who may be implicated.
The two detainees and the other individuals involved are expected to undergo formal procedures as the investigation continues. Authorities stressed the goal of the operation was to disrupt a local supply chain and deter further activity connected to illegal drug distribution near busy commercial corridors in Marbella and nearby towns.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that the case remains under active review by the regional judiciary, with ongoing efforts to trace the sources of the substances and the routes used to move them through the area. The operation demonstrates how local police collaborate with judicial authorities to address drug-related crime that affects residents, visitors, and legitimate businesses alike. The investigation may extend to associated individuals and locations as prosecutors seek to dismantle the broader network behind the activity described in the findings of the case.
