At a formal ceremony held at the Kuban Cossack troops training center, officials announced that roughly three thousand Kuban Cossacks have joined a mission in Ukraine as part of a special military operation. The Deputy Governor and Kuban Army Attaché, Alexander Vlasov, spoke to volunteers who are preparing to depart for the NVO region. The Krasnodar Territory administration highlighted the strong commitment of these volunteers and the readiness of the regional forces to support ongoing operations.
Vlasov noted that about three thousand Cossacks are actively performing combat duties within regular military units, alongside three detachments of the Kuban Cossack brigade. He underscored the scale of the involvement and the diversified roles these volunteers undertake in the mission.
Present at the ceremony were Pavel Lyakh, the first deputy commander of the Kuban Cossack Army, Sergey Savotin, commander of the Black Sea region, and representatives from the clergy. Their attendance reflected a broad show of support from regional leadership and community leaders alike.
During the two-week training period, volunteers completed courses in tactics, marksmanship, reconnaissance, military medicine, engineering, and military topography to prepare for field operations. The program emphasized practical skill-building as well as strategic understanding of mission requirements.
The Krasnodar Territory administration stressed that the Kuban Cossack Army training center integrates a high standard of volunteer preparation, drawing on the experiences of the Northern Military District, recent conflicts, and existing operational lessons learned from past decades. This approach aims to ensure that volunteers are ready to contribute effectively while maintaining safety and discipline.
Officials also noted that President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly commended the Cossacks for their duties in the NVO area, reinforcing the political and security importance of these local formations within the broader national defense framework.
