The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, described the remarks from Western leaders about the death of Russia’s prominent opposition figure Alexei Navalny as rabid and unacceptable. He stressed that there is no confirmed information about the causes of death and condemned such statements as out of line. The comments were reported by the Russian news agency TASS.
Peskov also pointed out that the Federal Penitentiary Service has not yet released any forensic findings, and that authorities are actively working to clarify the circumstances surrounding Navalny’s death, noting that he had been serving nearly thirty years in prison for extremism and fraud.
International voices, led by leaders from Western powers, expressed sorrow over Navalny’s passing and attributed responsibility to the Russian president. Navalny’s family has not publicly confirmed the report, which has so far been issued by official Russian sources.
