Jaume O. sentenced for sexual offenses and weapons possession in Barcelona

The Barcelona Court has sentenced Jaume O., the former guitarist of the historic band Decibelios, to nearly eleven years in prison after he admitted to molesting two underage girls in exchange for money and recorded their encounters.

In the seventh section of the Barcelona Court, the musician who accepted a plea deal was facing penalties proposed by the prosecutor after pleading guilty to sexual abuse of minors and paying compensation of 48 thousand euros to the two victims, a single gesture aimed at reducing the final sentence according to the prosecutor’s office.

Hours later, the court delivered a verdict convicting the guitarist of multiple crimes including minor prostitution, sexual exploitation of minors, production of child pornography, exhibitionism, and unlawful possession of weapons after two pistols were found during a house search.

The guitarist was arrested by Mossos d’Esquadra in Barcelona in March 2020, and after the arrest the well-known “Oi” music figure from the 1980s announced the band’s definitive breakup and distanced itself from the alleged acts of abuse.

The defendant acknowledged in court that he had paid minors under sixteen to have sex with him, recording those encounters with a mobile phone and a GoPro camera and later showing the footage to the victims via a projector.

He also admitted knowing that the girls were fifteen years old, claiming he warned that the agreed payment would not be made if they claimed legal consent at sixteen, and he pursued various sexual advances even when they did not agree.

Moreover, the defendant accepted in court ownership of two pistols found at his home during the March 2020 search, when no firearm license was present.

He was also fined 450 euros for the act of exhibitionism and received a four-year ban on contacting or approaching the victims, in addition to a five-year prohibition on working with minors.

According to the ruling, Jaume O. connected with one victim through a WhatsApp group in 2019 and helped introduce another minor to men for sexual encounters.

Initially, the first minor disclosed that she was 17, but he later acknowledged her true age and continued to meet her.

The second underage girl went to the confessor’s house through the connection with the first and Jaume O., whom she had met at a health center, where she was harassed and recorded repeatedly.

The young woman later entered the Adolescent Crisis Unit at a health center, prompting her mother to discover a message on her phone in which the accused asked her for oral sex, leading to a formal report.

Nevertheless, the accused invited the minor to another meeting in Barcelona at a copy shop, where he purportedly proposed marriage as a pretext, while she was under the age of sixteen and he offered money again in exchange for satisfying his sexual desires and recording the acts on his phone.

A police search of Jaume O.’s home also found cocaine and two unlicensed firearms, along with the cameras and mobile phones used to record the abuse of the victims.
