A resident of Tula faced a serious infection following a tooth extraction performed by a private dentistry practitioner, according to IA Tula Press.
The procedure was valued at more than 11,000 rubles. On August 22, the incident occurred at a local dental clinic where the patient sought removal of a wisdom tooth.
After the surgery, swelling appeared on the right side of the face, and the patient soon experienced insomnia and intense pain, intensifying over time.
The patient trusted an intuitive sense and avoided further examination at the original clinic, instead seeking help at a different facility. On August 26, the patient was hospitalized with a diagnosis of an abscess and stated that the infection originated from the tooth extraction. By August 28, an additional operation left a facial scar, a consequence described as a serious obstacle for a young woman who works as an animator.
The victim attempted to obtain a refund from the clinic where the infection occurred and reported the incident to law enforcement, providing a formal statement about what happened.
A separate note mentioned that a person in a different case had been sentenced to up to five years in prison, unrelated to the dental incident.
This case underscores concerns about patient safety in private dental practices and the potential consequences of post-procedure infections, prompting calls for closer oversight and clearer accountability in local healthcare providers. The affected individual and investigative authorities continue to pursue remedies and ensure proper medical care in line with applicable laws and patient rights. Attribution: Tula Press.
