Riding the elevator, working in an office, strolling on the street, driving on the road—industrial safety plays a crucial role in daily life. It helps ensure that these ordinary actions occur without accidents, even though the topic remains widely misunderstood.
Some people think industrial safety only concerns factories or heavy industry. That assumption could not be farther from the truth. The concept spans all spaces where people work, move, and interact with equipment that supports everyday life.

What is Industrial Safety?
Industrial safety comprises the regulatory provisions designed to prevent and limit risks. It aims to protect people, property, and the environment from harm arising from industrial activities or from design, installation, maintenance, inspection, control, and use of certain facilities and equipment.
In essence, it offers a guarantee of social welfare and safeguards daily life for everyone. It is used in everyday facilities such as elevators and power tools, and it governs visits to organizations and public spaces like schools, cafeterias, offices, and streets, in line with safety regulations.
It would be an overstatement to say this is merely an administrative task. Industrial safety adds value to society and to governance. The Generalitat launched an action plan six years ago to raise awareness about industrial safety and its importance.
Awareness Campaign
The Official College of Industrial Engineers of the Valencian Community, a member of the Consell Valencià de la Seguretat Industrial since its founding in 2018, has continued awareness activities for six years. The aim is to communicate the need for compliance with industrial safety rules applicable to both industrial and domestic spaces. A city bus advertising campaign carried the message: Industrial safety is in the air, invisible but omnipresent.
The campaign sought to reach the public, students, and the next generation of professionals. Conferences were held at six universities across three provinces: Miguel Hernández University of Elche, University of Alicante, Polytechnic University of Valencia, Alcoy Campus and Valencia Campus, University of Valencia, and Jaume I University of Castellón.
The initiative included sessions conducted with the Valencian Community Councils of Industrial Technical Engineers. Support also came from the Valencian Community Business Confederation and other institutional partners.
The campaign focused on raising awareness that facilities must comply with industrial safety regulations in design, installation, and maintenance. Information meetings were organized to guide management and modernization of industrial sites in Castellón province.
Yes-Control, a digital instrument
In every session, the operation of the sector portal on the GVA website was demonstrated, including all information and tasks available there. The SICHECK tool helps business owners self-diagnose the state of their facilities at the documentary and maintenance levels.
The importance of appointing a responsible person for industrial safety within a company was emphasized. The first edition of this role was published this year as part of a Master’s Degree in Industrial Safety at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
Through bus advertising and targeted conferences for students and business leaders, the campaign successfully reached a broad audience with general insights and engaged specialists with in-depth talks.
COIICV continues daily to support ongoing education for its members, ensuring the profession remains a confident standard for industrial safety.
