The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported the discovery of a tunnel linked to Hamas beneath the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip. The update was shared through official IDF channels.
According to the army, intelligence data point to a tunnel shaft near an UNRWA school, with the passage continuing underground toward a Hamas military intelligence facility located beneath the agency’s main building. The tunnel is described as roughly 700 meters long and about 18 meters deep, equipped with blast doors as part of its protective features.
Earlier, Israeli forces had confiscated cash and intelligence documents from what the army described as an underground Hamas bank vault. In a separate operation, the Yiftah brigade reserve forces conducted a raid in central Gaza, seizing around 100,000 shekels in cash and a batch of intelligence documents stored in an underground warehouse.
In related remarks, former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed a firm stance against Hamas, highlighting a continued commitment to action aimed at dismantling Hamas infrastructure and capabilities. The disclosures come amid ongoing security operations and a broader assessment of underground networks used by militant groups in the region, as reported by official military sources and corroborated by field updates.
