Identity Theft Case Involving a Young Woman From Alicante On a Page Called Fansly

Alicante’s authorities are looking into a complaint filed by a 20-year-old woman who found that someone impersonated her identity on the web page known as Fansly. The scam involved presenting erotic content for payment and using the victim’s real photos on Instagram without her permission. The fake account, created with the woman’s data and images, already existed and had attracted a following of more than 6,000 before the fraud was uncovered. The scheme used the victim’s identity to lure users into paying for explicit videos, though the actual recordings belonged to other women, not the complainant.

The investigation is being led by the Technological Crimes Group of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade. Police officials acknowledge that these scammers are often difficult to locate because many operate from other countries, frequently outside Spain. Local sources note that identity theft of this kind is a recurring issue on erotic sites where profiles are created to misrepresent real individuals.

The 20-year-old victim learned of the fraud after being alerted by friends. She maintains an active Instagram account where she sometimes shares personal photos. According to her complaint, she discovered a fake profile that used part of her real name and even added a number to her identification handle on the platform. The imposter account also reposted photos from her real accounts and linked to pages that host erotic content for payment and to messages designed to attract followers.

According to the complaint, the malicious link in the fake Instagram profile redirected users to the United States–based Fansly platform, using the victim’s name and images to promote the pages. The site in question indicates the victim, displays erotic content, and uses her identity to conduct illicit activity.

The young woman reported the incident after Instagram blocked the fraudulent profile she discovered. People close to the case told media outlets that the fake profile already boasted more than 6,000 followers. The fraudulent operation relies on creating counterfeit accounts that exploit someone else’s identity for commercial gain on adult content networks.

Officials emphasize the importance of reviewing privacy settings on social networks and monitoring for any unauthorized use of personal photos or names. If anyone suspects their identity has been stolen or misused in this manner, reporting the incident to local law enforcement and to the platform involved is advised. Keeping an up-to-date report of any suspicious activity, including screenshots and URLs, can help investigators pieces together how the scam unfolded and who is responsible. Community awareness is key, as scammers continue to adapt by leveraging widely used sites for their deceptive schemes. Victims are encouraged to seek support from platform administrators, legal advisors, and, when necessary, cybercrime units that specialize in online exploitation and identity fraud, so that proper measures can be taken to remove the fake profiles and prevent further harm.
