Spain’s growth in the economy and business hinges on a key driver: the digitalization of companies, including small and medium enterprises and startups. In 2020, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation introduced the Digital Spain 2026 program, a roadmap designed to transform every layer of the economy through digital adoption. In recent years, investments from the Recovery Plan have accelerated progress in digital initiatives affecting the administration, research and development, and the modernization of SMEs.
Technology giant Huawei launched Huawei Cloud, a portfolio of applications aimed at boosting the digital economy. It provides cloud storage, management tools, and devices that enhance security and performance for organizations. The vast data volumes organizations process today call for a management system capable of hosting, organizing, and processing data, servers, and software with speed and efficiency.
Huawei Cloud has already rolled out a global ecosystem of roughly 240 cloud services and 210 solutions. The platform offers computing units, storage services, databases, disk space, and more. In Spain, Huawei Cloud collaborates with about 26 partners to deliver value across the market.
A central focus for Huawei is supporting small and medium enterprises. UN data highlight that this sector accounts for a substantial portion of GDP and employment in the country. In 2023, Huawei hosted the Huawei Cloud Summit Spain for the first time, gathering more than 200 industry leaders, experts, and specialists under the theme New Changer, New Rocker. The event explored how cloud technology can accelerate the growth of the digital economy in Spain.
During the opening remarks, Eric Li, President of Huawei Spain, emphasized the company’s commitment to assisting Spain on its digital transformation journey. He noted that Huawei Cloud introduces new technologies that help Spain strengthen its connectivity with other European nations and position itself as a regional leader in digital integration.
At the summit, company representatives stressed the importance of driving Spain’s digitalization toward 2026. They highlighted the critical role of cloud solutions in helping small enterprises access scalable resources, reduce costs, and build resilient operations. The presentations also showcased the Cloud Acceleration Program, which aims to help SMBs transition to the cloud quickly, enabling faster time to value and more agile business capabilities.
Huawei Cloud’s strategy in Spain centers on empowering a robust partner network. According to Tang Rong, Huawei Cloud’s European Partners Business Development Director, most customers are expected to come through partner channels in the near term. The emphasis on partner collaboration was evident throughout the congress, where a co‑creation and win‑win mindset was promoted, supporting partners from initial engagement through ongoing life-cycle assistance. This collaborative approach aligns with broader regional efforts to foster vibrant ecosystems that accelerate digital adoption and innovation.
