Health and Police Response After Central Torrevieja Accident

In the early morning hours, the center of Torrevieja experienced a traffic accident that left three people with minor injuries. A collision also damaged seven vehicles and caused an awning terrace along the road to be partially displaced. Emergency services arrived quickly to manage the scene and ensure that anyone needing medical attention could be treated on site or transported to safety for further evaluation.

Four local police patrol units were dispatched to the area to begin an initial assessment, secure the scene, and coordinate with medical crews. An ambulance from SAMU and two life-support units were also deployed to assist those affected. The rapid arrival of officers helped to maintain order and prevent additional hazards while responders worked through the aftermath of the crash.

The incident took place at approximately 08:15 on the street Caballero de Rodas at its intersection with Fuensanta street. According to witnesses and the preliminary police report, a driver did not brake in time as they approached a stationary vehicle. An evasive maneuver followed, but the vehicle collided with the parked car, triggering the chain of events that led to the injuries and property damage observed on the roadway. A large portion of a terrace belonging to a nearby cafeteria was knocked loose during the impact, though the establishment was closed at the time of the incident, which helped prevent further injuries among patrons or staff.

Authorities noted that the terrace structure on the road was displaced as a result of the impact and remains under investigation for safety and liability considerations. The scene required containment and careful monitoring as debris and vehicle fluids were cleared from the roadway to prevent any secondary accidents. Traffic management measures were implemented to allow responders to work efficiently while minimizing disruption to nearby residents and commuters.

Initial testing of the young driver involved in the crash revealed a positive result for alcohol and drug use, according to on-site officials. The driver appeared distressed by the situation and injuries sustained during the escape attempt, which may have affected the outcome of the events being investigated. The ongoing inquiry will determine the exact sequence of events and any contributing factors tied to the driver’s condition at the time of the collision.

Health care

In total, four police patrols remained at the accident location to supervise the area, and medical teams kept watch over the affected individuals as a precaution. Three people sustained minor injuries, including a pregnant person who required careful assessment before any further treatment decisions. All three were transported to a hospital for follow-up care and observation to ensure there were no hidden complications. Medical staff from Torrevieja University Hospital were on standby to evaluate the patients and provide any necessary interventions.

The responders stayed on site for more than an hour, liaising with tow trucks that removed the damaged vehicles and cleared the roadway. The prolonged presence of authorities and medical teams was aimed at ensuring a thorough safety check and supporting witnesses who may provide statements for the investigation. As is standard in such cases, the area was monitored until the risk of further incidents subsided and preparations could be made to reopen the street to traffic when it was deemed safe to do so.
