Geomagnetic Calm Expected by March 28–29

When the Sun-Earth connection shows no new flare activity, experts expect the geomagnetic conditions on Earth to settle back to normal in the window of March 28–29. This outlook comes from the Institute for Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS) and was echoed by RIA News. In the days leading up to this forecast, scientists monitored the solar-terrestrial environment for signs of renewed disturbance and emphasized the importance of watching the geoeffective zone on the Sun. If no additional events occur in that zone, the geomagnetic system is projected to calm in the latter part of the week, specifically around March 28–29.
