Alicante State Metal Entrepreneurs Federation (Fempa) will deliver training to five hundred ninety young people through the program Generation D Change Agents, with the goal of boosting the digitization of SMEs. The initiative includes a grant of twenty thousand euros to help small and medium-sized companies recruit trainees for the program and support their learning journey.
Fempa joined a select group of twenty-five Spanish organizations to participate in the project. The program’s management was assigned through a competitive bidding process, and most of the participating entities in Alicante contributed to mobilizing an investment of approximately 1.6 million euros. The program was widely disseminated across the country by the Ministry of Industry and the Industrial Organization School to foster nationwide development. An overall investment of about fifty-five million euros is planned to benefit nineteen thousand three hundred students. Fempa has entrusted Anban for execution, alongside the National Big Data Analytics Association, to drive implementation and outcomes.
Eligible profiles for access to education include young people up to 35 years old who are unemployed, as well as SME employees ranging from ten to two hundred forty-nine workers. In this framework, trainees may be selected from a maximum of three employees from the same company. The measure is designed to help close the gender gap in the sector by prioritizing women whenever possible.
Selected participants must hold a higher vocational education and training degree or a university degree and demonstrate six months of professional experience, or have a level 3 vocational certificate, a high school diploma, or an intermediate VET degree with two years of related work experience. The program offers a comprehensive training curriculum, including 140 hours focused on strategic business management, innovation, social skills, customer processes, technology, and digital transformation, all aimed at preparing residents for modern market needs.
Concurrently, SMEs that employ students will receive direct assistance for up to twenty months, at a rate of one thousand euros per month. Additional funds will be allocated as part of the final ordering of applications until the national budget for the first fifteen thousand candidates is exhausted.
Since 2021, Fempa’s Speed up Pyme Office has advised more than four thousand companies. It has organized over a hundred digitization events across various municipalities in the Alicante region and has facilitated the rapid, free processing of the Digital Kit for companies. The program has mobilized more than two million euros in aid, benefiting a broad base of beneficiaries. This ongoing effort underscores Fempa’s commitment to helping small firms embrace digital tools and data-driven strategies for growth and resilience.
