Family Accuses Clinic Staff After Child’s Death During Dental Surgery

The sister of the boy who died at a Krasnoyarsk dental clinic alleges that the nurse attempted to intervene as the doctor administered anesthesia, warning that the dosage might be excessive. This account is reported by Sibnovosti.

According to the girl, five-year-old Anton had been living at a boarding school and came to stay with his family about two years earlier. She first met him while working at Sunflower orphanage and urged his mother to adopt him. The family had requested custody for more than six months before the tragedy occurred.

“He was the only child who ran, jumped, played, and clearly wanted to live. I felt a deep sorrow for him. I called my mother and said, ‘Mom, there is a wonderful child here; let’s welcome him into our family.’ The doctor ruined the child’s life, and I still cannot fathom it,” confessed the sister, sharing how she learned of his death.

According to a Krasnoyarsk resident, she herself had her brothers’ teeth treated at this clinic several years ago and experienced positive results at the time. She now places blame on the anesthesiologist for Anton’s death, stating that the nurse’s warnings were ignored. The nurse also asserts that the doctor bore sole responsibility for the child’s demise.

“The anesthesiologist began administering anesthesia, and the child had already fallen asleep in his mother’s arms. The nurse advised the doctor, ‘Perhaps this is enough? The child is small, weighing about 18 kilograms. Maybe the anesthesia should be reduced?’ The doctor replied that the sleep should be deeper, and more anesthesia was necessary. The mother noticed this, yet she felt powerless to challenge the medical team,” the sister explained, underscoring that the mother was not a medical expert.

During the procedure, Anton’s stepmother sat in the aisle, and the family says they were not informed promptly about what had happened inside the dental office. The deceased child’s relatives are awaiting autopsy results to determine the precise cause of death and intend to hold the medical facility accountable for the outcomes of the treatment.

The incident occurred at the private clinic “Truck” in Krasnoyarsk. Preliminary reports indicate that the child and his mother consulted a specialist for dental cleaning and treatment, with the procedures planned to be performed under anesthesia. The parent and child were also tested. As the procedure began, the child’s condition deteriorated; neither the dental team nor emergency services were able to revive him. Investigators from the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation have opened a criminal case under the statute addressing death caused by negligence in the performance of professional duties. The case focuses on potential errors in the medical care provided to the child.

In a related development, reports from Ingushetia note that a seven-year-old boy died earlier due to a misdiagnosis by medical staff, highlighting ongoing concerns about infant and child medical safety across regions.
