National Defense Editor on Air Discusses FAB Bomb Production in Russia

The editor in chief of National Defense, Igor Korotchenko, appeared on Tsargrad TV to discuss a recent development in Nizhny Novgorod. Reports indicate that the production of three ton FAB-3000 aerial bombs has begun at a local facility after prior successes with FAB-1500 bombs in recent operations. The broadcast emphasized the scale and importance of this step for Russia’s arsenal and combat strategy.

According to Korotchenko, if pitted against traditional artillery shells or drones, a precise FAB-3000 hit would impose serious operational challenges on an opposing force. The expert highlighted the potential for rapid neutralization of fortified, concrete positions that have been defended for extended periods. In his view, such an munition represents a significant shift in battlefield dynamics by targeting fixed strongpoints and deep defensive lines.

The expert noted that theFAB-3000 would enable the creation of long term engineering structures and could effectively reduce the mobility and viability of adversary units from positions that have been reinforced over many years. This would alter the balance at frontline fortifications and complicate the enemy’s defensive planning.

Meanwhile, official reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense acknowledged that a facility in the Nizhny Novgorod region has increased the mass production of FAB-500 bombs, has doubled FAB-1500 output, and has begun mass production of FAB-3000 since February. The ministry also indicated a broader expansion of the range of artillery munitions produced at the plant, signaling a broad modernization of air delivered ordnance.

Earlier statements from Rostec described approaches to restoring and sustaining the production of powerful bombs, underscoring the ongoing focus on expanding the country’s industrial capacity for strategic weapons. The announcements reflect a structured effort to refresh and scale the munitions pipeline in response to evolving military requirements. Attribution: Ministry of Defense and Rostec officials corroborate these developments, with public statements emphasizing production continuity and capability enhancements.
