Eight days after Silvia Bronchalo filed the complaint

Eight days after his ex-wife and the mother of his son, Silvia Bronchalo, filed a complaint for insults and harassment, Rodolfo Sancho is summoned to testify as a suspect in a possible gender-based violence case, according to CASO ABIERTO, the investigative team of Prensa Ibérica.

The judge at the Violencia sobre la Mujer court number 1 in Alcobendas, Madrid, has called the actor to explain his version of the events Bronchalo reported to the National Police last Thursday, February 8. Earlier this week, Bronchalo reaffirmed the complaint and testified before the judge, who will now hear Sancho’s account.

“Called a fool, incapable”

Sancho — who does not reside in Madrid — could offer his statement via video link from another court if the defense chooses. He will need to respond to the accusations his former partner attributes to him, which, as reported by CASO ABIERTO, include several WhatsApp messages in which he allegedly directs insults toward Bronchalo.

The woman contends in her complaint that ever since their son Daniel Sancho was detained in Thailand, the two have maintained regular phone contact to discuss matters related to the young man’s defense and, financially, to his situation. In this context, Bronchalo asserts that Sancho sent messages labeling her as “crazy” and “unable” among other things.

Two prior complaints

The mother of Daniel Sancho states that these messages are not isolated remarks but reflect a pattern of demeaning and offensive comments. In one message sent last week, the complaint includes an accusation that Bronchalo could be suffering from bipolar disorder and would require psychiatric care, according to the filing.

This outlet has confirmed that Silvia Bronchalo filed two prior complaints for mistreatment against Rodolfo Sancho, in 2004 and 2008. Bronchalo’s attorney, Carolina Castro, clarified that those complaints did not advance to a judge at the time due to the complainant’s fragile life situation.

Sancho denies the allegations

The circle around Rodolfo Sancho was contacted for comment but declined to speak. Later, the law firm Balfagón & Chippirrás released a statement on behalf of the actor denying that the phrases attributed — including terms like “crazy,” “you don’t understand anything,” “you’re incapable” and references to the child’s traumas — were written by Sancho.

His lawyers claim that there are recordings in the client’s possession showing grave threats and insults directed at Sancho and, additionally, at his lawyers. The defense documents also argue that these words affect his partner, his minor daughter, and his professional career.

Separate visits

As the trial slated for next April approaches, Daniel Sancho, son of Bronchalo and Sancho, remains in provisional detention at Koh Samui Prison in Thailand since August 7. He stands accused of murder, dismemberment, and concealing the victim’s body of the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta.

Since then, his parents have publicly shown their support and have traveled from Spain to visit him. Initially, each visited separately: first the mother, and weeks later the father. In November, they visited together, though they entered the facility separately.

The landscape of these events highlights the depth of a family entangled in a sprawling legal battle that touches multiple fronts and keeps close observers on edge. [Source: CASO ABIERTO]
