It wasn’t a glove for changing a spare tire, nor were these the colorful wrappings of a sock candy, but a stash of 52 doses of cocaine found on a shelf. This is how a 49-year-old Colombian national was surprised and detained by the National Police in Alicante, accused of selling drugs in broad daylight on a busy street north of the city.
The suspect is under investigation by the National Police for drug dealing, with indications that the officers were right. After careful surveillance, investigators confirmed that a sale had indeed occurred to a buyer in plain sight.
Colorful packages containing cocaine in Alicante were pictured in police statements. The information depicted the seized scene and the evidence trail that supported the case.
Intermediaries intercepted the buyer and the seller. While the buyer confessed to the police that he had just purchased the drug he was carrying, the dealer, identified as the primary target of the operation, denied carrying drugs during the initial search. A subsequent inspection of the suspect’s vehicle uncovered a double-bottomed sock concealing 52 packets of varying colors and weights, totaling 95 grams of cocaine.
The seller, who had prior police registration, was arrested and taken to the police station. Following the required procedures, the detainee was presented to the court. The Alicante security court ordered that the case proceed, and the individual was allowed to post bail for release.
