Conventional medicine cannot replace chemotherapy, and delaying its start may lead to more rounds of treatment. This view is echoed by Yana Mangasarova, a hematologist and head of the department of chemotherapy for lymphatic tumors at the National Hematology Medical Research Center under the Ministry of Health of Russia, in an interview with Kommersant.
She notes that some patients decline therapy after listening to relatives who fear the side effects of chemotherapy. In her experience spanning fourteen years, there has never been a case where traditional medicine alone successfully cured cancer.
She explains that chemotherapy, while not always improving day-to-day comfort, can offer a real chance at recovery and a renewed life. In contrast, nonstandard therapies provide no credible path to cure. If the early stage required four cycles of chemotherapy, a more advanced stage could require six cycles and possibly a transplant to restore health.
The doctor adds that modern chemotherapy regimens can be applied to pregnant patients when clinically appropriate, preserving the life of both mother and child. This reinforces the message that delaying cancer treatment is rarely in a patient’s best interest.
She emphasizes that many chemotherapy-related side effects typically resolve within six months. The body is remarkably resilient, yet it cannot be protected by unconventional remedies such as certain herbal preparations. A careful, evidence-based approach remains essential for successful outcomes.
