In the framework of Geek Week, CD Projekt Red, the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077, announced the premiere of an anime collaboration with Netflix and Studio Trigger. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners arrived on Netflix in September 2022. During the event, which highlighted the streaming service’s catalog of movies, series, and games, the first promotional materials were shown, including a teaser trailer and a behind‑the‑scenes look at how the anime was made.
The main art for Edgerunners was crafted by Yoh Yoshinari, the series’ lead character designer, who helps illuminate the cast led by the focus characters David and Lucy. The couple appears in the teaser and in the behind‑the‑scenes feature along with other voice actors. Across more than ten episodes, the series follows a street kid trying to survive in a neon‑lit metropolis that is obsessed with technology and body modification. With everything at stake, the young protagonist chooses to survive as an outlaw mercenary, embodying the archetype commonly known as a cyberpunk edge runner.
