Cristóbal LC, a fruit seller from Valdeavero in the Madrid region, has just begun a prison term. He was sentenced to serve from October 4 to 19 on charges related to sexual crimes against minors and corruption. He has entered Soto del Real prison, a development reported by El Periódico de España, part of the Prensa Ibérica group.

The Madrid Regional Court, 30th Division, held a public session and issued a decision to incarcerate him, citing a real risk of flight. The measure became effective on October 13. He had been free since October 2021, when the 5th Court of Alcalá de Henares ordered his release.

The release order was signed by the same judge who had previously ordered his detention ten months earlier. The case, with incidents dating back to the summer of 2020, involved numerous complaints by minors. In December of that year the judge ordered his detention for security reasons after 14 minors reported such conduct.

In October 2021, the judge granted his release, despite concerns about the risk of flight. The decision imposed several precautionary measures, including a weekly court appearance, a prohibition on leaving Spain, and a ban on residing in or visiting the town of Valdeavero. A restraining order was issued, and a prohibition on contacting ten minors who reported sexual assaults was put in place.

demonstrations

The release provoked strong reactions from those who advocate for minors. People organized letters of objection and demonstrations echoed through Valdeavero, where the fruit seller had lived and operated the Keai grocery store at the time the incidents occurred. Residents gathered for rallies and marches, urging that Cristóbal be returned to prison.

The families of the affected minors, all under fifteen, stated that they feared further contact with the alleged offender. Some relatives described encounters with him on local streets. Although Cristóbal left the municipality and sold his properties after his release, he continued to reside close to Valdeavero.

El Periódico de España first published the October 4 Madrid Regional Court sentence, which ordered 12 years in prison for the offense. It also included a 7‑year term for sexual assault on a minor under 15 and two counts of corruption of minors. Nine days later, Cristóbal entered Soto del Real prison.

Ten more cases

This is just the start. The October 4 sentence against Toba represents one case among several. Yet he faces ten additional counts involving boys under 15 at the time of the alleged assaults.

On each count, the legal framework allows for up to 16 years in prison for repeated sexual assaults against minors under 16. Prosecutors are seeking a total prison term of 98 years for the new charges, not counting the 19 years already imposed in the other case. The defense of the victims is pushing for a sentence of 105 years in total. The upcoming hearing for this matter is scheduled for October 2024, about a year later.
