The Investigative Department of the Chuvashia Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case over the fact that several local residents contracted anthrax. The information was confirmed by the press office.

Authorities established that the outbreak began in the village of Staroe Aktashevo, within the Tsivilsky municipal district. A resident slaughtered a bull that later turned out to be infected with a dangerous pathogen. As a result, the victim’s wife, a neighbor who assisted in the slaughter, and another friend developed ulcers.

Vaccination against anthrax in 2022 was not carried out for the livestock on the property.

The case has been transferred to the Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Committee for further examination under the article addressing violations of veterinary rules and the measures established to combat plant diseases and pests.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor in the Moscow region reported a patient suspected of having anthrax was admitted to a hospital in the Moscow region. This information signals the ongoing need for strict health monitoring and adherence to veterinary and public health protocols to prevent further spread.
