As Casting for Survivors nears its conclusion, only a handful of contestants remain to be confirmed. One of the most surprising entrants is Carmen Borrego, a longtime collaborator of This is Life, who will test both physical stamina and mental resolve on the journey to Honduras.

Terelu Campos’s sister and former Sálvame colleague will appear alongside one of her closest friends, Kike Calleja. The Telecinco correspondent is among the confirmed competitors and is expected to be a strong pillar for the Malaga native as the competition unfolds.

Borrego follows in the footsteps of other Sálvame personalities who have embraced reality television, including Anabel Pantoja, Mila Ximénez, Kiko Matamoros, Rafa Mora, and Rosa Benito, the winner of Survivors in 2011.

It was Carmen Borrego who prompted a memory of Rocío Cano’s sister-in-law when she and the show This is Life surprised her with a live connection to her husband. José Carlos Bernal encouraged him to go for it and race forward with determination.

“I am not sure if the word is anxious or not anxious, but there is some apprehension,” he shared during the broadcast. “I know the difficulties ahead and all I want is to give her courage and strength. If her mind stays steady, the rest will come naturally.”

During the live moment, Carmen asked her husband a direct question about repeating a famous on-screen moment from Amador and Rosa. Viewers certainly remember Rocío Jurado’s brother visiting his wife in Cayos Cochinos, sharing a hug, rolling on the ground, and splashing in the sea. It became television history.

“It won’t be the same image,” Borrego’s husband replied. “You know I love you, and I will miss you very much. I am calm because I know you will take care of everything. I hope I do not disappoint you, and you do not disappoint me. I have complete trust in my wife, and she has complete trust in me. That intense love without worries is what matters most.”

Carmen Borrego’s husband remains worried yet supportive

José Carlos Bernal explained to a host that the greatest concern lies in not finding inner peace at the outset. If she can manage those early thoughts about family and how everyone is faring, progress will be smoother. Mental strength, he believes, is the fuel that moves the body forward.

“I will miss him because he is not easy to be without. The family feels that absence when he is away. If things improve gradually and day by day, we will be ready for the journey,” said Bernal in a lighter moment during the exchange with This Is Life crew.

In closing, Bernal urged his wife to put all her energy into the challenge. “Push with every sinew because she can achieve this. Do not fear disappointing anyone and most importantly, do not disappoint herself.”

These are the confirmed contestants for Telecinco’s extreme reality experiment, a lineup that has viewers buzzing across the country and beyond.
