With a little more than a day left before the Eurovision 2022 grand finale, anticipation runs high for Chanel and a potential victory. The Spanish contestant has sparked loud debate among fans and bettors, consistently placing among the top positions in wagers. The chatter is strong enough that several Spanish cities are already quietly eyeing a bid to host the next edition should Chanel emerge triumphant.

The mayor of Valencia, Joan Ribó, recently hinted on social media that he would formally propose Valencia as the next host city if Chanel wins. His message stressed that the decision would come down to will rather than money, echoing a sentiment heard in the public conversations on hosting logistics.

Torremolinos has also entered the conversation. Mayor Mª del Cid stated that the town would welcome the chance, framing it as an opportunity for the entire Costa del Sol. She believes the area possesses the right mix of venues and enthusiasm to stage a world class Eurovision event that would captivate both residents and visitors alike.

Barcelona has joined the discussion through its first vice mayor. She revealed on a Friday TV program that the city offers outstanding concert spaces like Palau Sant Jordi and noted Chanel’s connection to Barcelona and Catalonia. She suggested that recommending Barcelona as the host is a real possibility given the festival’s massive global audience and the city’s experience in hosting major concerts.

In Madrid, Deputy Mayor Begona Villacís has voiced support for Chanel’s victory and the idea of bringing Eurovision to the capital. She pointed to the city’s strong infrastructure and its readiness to manage a large cultural event of this type, highlighting that Madrid can accommodate the scale and reach of the contest.

The Canary Islands have not been left out of the dialogue. Augustus Hidalgo, the Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, used social media to advocate for a bid. He emphasized that the Canary Islands deeply love culture and music and suggested that if fortune smiles on Chanel, Las Palmas could be the venue for the event’s next edition, underscoring the archipelago’s vibrant cultural scene and tourism potential. He explained that the island chain is keen to showcase its unique appeal to a global audience, hoping to turn Eurovision into a shared celebration across Spain and beyond.
