The government press service announced that citizens can view and withdraw consent for the processing of their biometric personal data within the Unified Biometric System (UBS) and can also access information about their consent through their personal accounts on the State Services portal. This was reported by DEA News.
The cabinet confirmed that decisions regarding innovations have already been signed, establishing by federal law the right of users to exercise control over how their biometric data is processed.
Earlier, Roskachestvo noted that Russians may refuse to transfer their biometric data to the UBS even after September 1, as there is no strictly defined deadline for storing or using this data.
Under the new law, biometric personal data may be processed only within the External Biometric System (EBS) from June 1. Banks and other institutions that hold biometric data are required to submit those records to the EBS by September 30, 2023, and must provide customers with 30 days’ notice.
Previously, the State Duma discussed a draft law to raise scholarships to the level of the minimum wage.
In summary, the policy framework emphasizes user rights and centralized storage for biometric data, with phased requirements for transfer, retention, and notification that affect banks and other entities involved in biometric data management. The evolving regulations reflect a broader push toward clearer governance of biometric information and stronger consumer protections in the national digital ecosystem.
