“No objective data on acute cadmium or manganese poisoning.” OPEN CASE had access to the final forensic report on the ongoing investigation to determine whether the actor was Louis Lawrence and his partner Arancha Palomino poisoned her aunt Isabel Sue1rez to death.

Two experts, Dr. Maria Teresa Aguero and Dr. Javier Dedaz, at the request of the judge presiding over the case, conducted an autopsy on the elderly woman after the actor and his partner died at their home in Arganda del Rey (Madrid) in June 2021. They also reviewed toxicological analyses and found that the decedent showed elevated cadmium and manganese concentrations in the blood (200 and 20 times above typical levels, respectively), and the medical history revealed four antipsychotic drugs.

Their conclusions challenge those of the forensic scientist who performed the victims autopsy. It also undermines the Civil Guards accusation, which claimed that Lorenzo and Palomino transported their aunt from the council of Asturias in Grado, where she resided, to Madrid to exploit her financially; when that plan failed, they allegedly mistreated her and isolated her until death. Arganda del Rey s 9th investigative court continues to investigate the actor and his wife.

Post-Death Diffusion

The forensic doctor who performed the autopsy concluded there was acute heavy metal poisoning, but based solely on the results from the forensic examination and the victims blood sample. Reference values are established for living adults, and experts note the potential for diffusion and redistribution after death between the time of death and sampling.

Forensics counters the initial evidence supporting the charge against Lorenzo and Palomino, stressing that the first autopsy on the victim cannot be used as the sole diagnostic indicator in poisoning cases. They also regret that multiple studies on the victim prevent a definitive determination of the exact cause of death.

Fall Injuries

The new report also counters claims that the couple abused the elderly woman. The doctors observe that only physical lesions consistent with a fall and the patients known history of recurrent falls were evident on the body.

They address the medications found in Isabel Sue1rezodies, noting that the antidepressant Mirtazapine appeared at therapeutic concentrations.

Experts add that the deceased suffered from long-standing chronic conditions, including arterial hypertension, diabetes, essential tremor, anxiety, insomnia, glaucoma, and chronic venous insufficiency. Since 2017, routine falls related to health issues are documented, and cognitive impairment with Lewy Body dementia was diagnosed in the final year of life.

The conclusions align with the defense teams position, indicating there are objective data showing a reasonable level of monitoring and follow-up of these health conditions, as well as pharmacological guidelines being followed.
