A night out with friends ended in a disturbing report to the police after a young man was sexually assaulted in Zaragoza’s bars district. The incident reportedly occurred early in the morning, around 02:00, in a private area of a bar in the Aragon capital. Authorities say a suspect forcibly took a phone from the victim and resisted her pleas to return it. The situation led to the temporary detention of the accused, who was already on parole for prior offenses.
The case is being handled by the Family and Women’s Unit of the Aragon High Police Department. The young woman, who was accompanied by two friends, was entering a private room with an acquaintance when the two companions disappeared. A man described as FAHR, a 36-year-old male of Dominican descent, allegedly snatched the phone from the victim as she tried to contact her friends for help. The victim reported that the man looked to control the situation with threatening language, claiming that she would not leave and that he had the phone and would not allow her to leave the scene. She tried to resist and to leave, but the pressure and intimidation continued.
With the aim of reclaiming her phone, the victim initially attempted to continue socializing with the group. She kept hope that the situation would resolve itself and that she could recover the device. In a moment of desperation, she stepped outside for a cigarette and spoke with a friend on the sidewalk about what had happened. The friend offered to accompany her to confront the suspect at another venue, Canterbury, to recover the phone. The plan did not unfold as hoped. The complainant said the suspect grew increasingly frustrated and urged her to move to another location, Chocolat, and to stay with him for longer than she wanted.
According to the victim, there was an instruction to go to the bathroom to smoke cocaine together, an invitation she did not accept. In a closed booth, the man allegedly forced the victim to perform sexual acts. The woman stated that she tried to escape as the door was closed and she was assaulted. She recounted that the aggressor made crude remarks about his own body and insisted on continuing the assault. The victim described a violent confrontation in which she resisted and fought back, ultimately being sexually assaulted despite her protests.
After the assault, traces of semen were found on the suspect’s clothing and were collected by the National Police for testing. Investigators say the accused then rejoined the party at the Chocolat nightclub, seemingly trying to blend back into the crowd. Sensing danger, the victim’s friends and she headed to the building where she could seek help, and she proceeded to the Actur police station to file an official report. The suspect faced multiple charges following the case review, including mistreatment, drug-related offenses, injuries, assault, and driving without a license. He was summoned for questioning by the UFAM soon after the report was filed.
At the police station, the suspect was placed in custody. The case was sent to the Education Court No. 9 in Zaragoza, which granted temporary release on probation after a request by the defense lawyers Carmen Sánchez Herrero and Luis Ángel Marcén. A restraining order was issued to protect the victim. The events highlighted a security protocol designed to ensure that, whenever a report is filed, local staff prioritize the victim’s safety while ensuring the suspect is detained for questioning. The outcome reinforces the priority given to safeguarding victims in such crimes, as documented by the authorities involved in Zaragoza and summarized after the incident by law enforcement officials and court authorities.
