A robbery investigation in the Northern district of Alicante led to the arrest of two individuals after they were caught attempting to break into a home. The incident occurred recently when residents inside awakened by a sound near the door, discovered two suspects trying to discreetly gain access and alerted authorities. The alarmed residents immediately reported the disturbance, prompting a rapid response by police units.

Responding officers from the Alicante Northern District’s Response Operational Group (GOR) initiated on-site measures as soon as they arrived. The officers observed two men cautiously exiting a residence on the main street of the district’s urban area, behaving in a guarded and suspicious manner late at night. As the situation developed, both suspects separated, each heading in a different direction. The officers pursued the man who showed the more evasive behavior, while the other attempted to flee on foot.

One officer halted the approaching suspect and requested identification, while the other man attempted to elude capture. A chase ensued that spanned several hundred yards, culminating in a takedown and the recovery of a bag dropped during the flight. During a subsequent search, officers recovered additional items from the area and from the fleeing suspect’s pockets. Inside the bag and on the person, investigators found multiple kitchen tools and small appliances that are commonly used by criminal groups to force entry into homes.

With these findings, the officers coordinated with another National Police unit to verify the suspects’ movements. A review of the security portal confirmed that the two men had been seen approaching a residence within the urbanization, a sign of intent to break in. Homeowners reported that someone had just attempted to access their home by manipulating and forcing the lock.

Evidence at the scene supported this claim. Investigators observed tampering marks on the door frame, including a notch and a sheet of metal fitted inside the lock mechanism. This metal work matched the pieces seized from the suspects during their arrest. The homeowners also shared that they heard voices at the door while they slept and emerged to see two men sprinting down the community stairs.

Consequently, authorities proceeded with the arrest of both individuals, ages 31 and 48, who held Bulgarian nationality, on charges related to home robbery conducted with force. A substantial quantity of kitchen items intended for theft was recovered by the police.

The detained individuals were processed at the duty courthouse in Alicante, where investigators filed the necessary preliminary inquiries. The investigation continues under the jurisdiction of the Court of Inquiry to determine the full extent of the suspect’s involvement and any related incidents in the area. (Police report)
