Fear clutched her as she imagined a moment when danger could no longer be avoided. After scaling nine flights along the exterior of Calle Italia in Alicante, she fled into the night as a former spouse was expelled from a window in the early hours of Sunday. The woman, aged 35, had a documented history of abuse, and recent events led to a court-ordered return to detention this Monday. The incident occurred under the supervision of a family court division focused on protection against violence. A magistrate, reviewing the case, approved admission to custody following the arrest by the National Police and the start of preliminary proceedings. Charges included breach of sentence, two counts of trespassing, and a minor injury offense, according to summaries from the judiciary’s high court.
In line with these proceedings, the judiciary notes that the magistrate issued an injunction restricting communication and establishing a distance prohibition of 500 meters from the victim’s home, workplace, or other locations she frequents. The man, who had previously obtained a restraining order against his former partner, has reportedly continued contacting the victim since his release last June with the intent of meeting her.
The former partner of the detained man described the suspect as pursuing him and warned that if he went to bed, he would be killed. She recounted waking at home with a friend as the assailant forced entry, and the victim then fled downstairs where authorities already tracked activity as someone climbed toward the sixth floor. The assailant’s behavior indicated a pattern of aggression aimed at coercing contact or confrontation, raising renewed concerns about the threat to the victim’s safety.
The suspect attempted to escape by moving between balconies and entering another residence, claiming that harm to the occupants was not his aim and that his only goal was to reach the street. Although he managed to dodge immediate custody for a time, law enforcement officers apprehended him as he emerged from the neighborhood. In addition to the previously listed offenses, authorities charged him with an attempted assault on a police officer, underscoring the risk posed to officers during intervention and the broader implications for community safety.
