The Alicante Young Lawyers Association (AJA) marked a landmark 50th anniversary with a festive night held at the Real Liceo Casino. The celebration brought together generations of legal professionals to honor the group’s enduring legacy and impact on the community. During the evening, Joaquín Galant and Manuel Caballero, both pivotal figures in the association’s early leadership, presented the original founding document that launched the organization half a century ago. The document, carefully preserved, was accepted into the AJA’s archival collection with due reverence, as explained by AJA president Cristina Sirvent. The act underscored the association’s long-standing commitment to upholding professional standards and fostering a supportive network for young lawyers.
Icali, the cooperative in Icali, played a collaborative role in organizing the event, with contributions from the dean of the law school, who helped facilitate the proceedings. Fernando Candle assisted in handling the historical documents, ensuring they were safely transferred to the association’s custody. The presence of the Court President underscored the ceremony’s significance within the regional legal framework, alongside notable officials such as Juan Carlos Ceron, Alicante’s attorney general, Jorge Rabassa, and representatives from the college board. The gathering also welcomed former AJA presidents, including José María López Coig, María Dolores Ramos Calvo, María del Carmen Robledillo Sánchez, María Dolores de Cárdenas Pérez, Catalina Alcázar Soto, and Carlos Frigola Espinosa, who shared memories and perspectives from their years of service.
The evening culminated with the handover of a duplicate set of the historical documents to the first board members, a symbolic gesture that reaffirmed the association’s stewardship of its heritage. Sirvent highlighted that the Alicante group remains one of the most prominent and oldest legal associations in the country, reflecting its enduring influence on the profession and its members. Following the formal program, attendees enjoyed a convivial cocktail hour and a tasting session at the casino facilities, offering a relaxed conclusion to a milestone celebration that honored both the past and the ongoing work of young lawyers in the region.
