Psalium is a bridle element that holds the tip in the mouth. This artifact was found at the Troitsky excavation in the cultural layer of the 10th century. The item is made in the Scandinavian Borre style, which is the main in the art of the Vikings. The cheek piece blades are shaped like animal heads. Similar elements of horse equipment were found on the island of Gotland and in modern Norway. Such finds are regular in Northern Europe, but rare in the territory of Russia, despite intense interaction with the ancient Scandinavians. However, in 2014, not far from the current find, a collection of 20 items of Scandinavian antiquities was discovered – weapons, jewelry, amulets, a belt set and various household items.
