Spain will send medical supplies and medicines this Friday Cuba for fire in Matanzas provinceIt is west of the island where at least one dead, 121 injured and 17 firefighters were left behind after Havana requested support through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, the European Commission reported on Wednesday.

European Crisis Management Commissioner Janez Lenarcic said on his Twitter account that Spain’s offer will be sent this Friday after Cuba’s request for assistance, adding that the European Union is ready to coordinate the responses to this request for support.

“I express my solidarity with the victims”Lenarcic said after a fire that started last Friday when lightning struck a fuel tank in the Matanzas industrial zone.

Cuban authorities have stated this. More than 1000 people were evacuated and operations continue to resettle those living in vulnerable areas in relation to the incident.
