A court in Bashkiria reopened the case of a man accused of setting his wife on fire, even though the victim forgave him. about this reports district attorney’s office.

According to investigators, in May this year, a drunk man poured alcohol on his wife and set her on fire. As a result, the Russian woman suffered first and second degree burns.

Despite her injuries, her husband did not allow the woman to leave the house and locked her up. At the same time, the Russian woman wanted to call doctors, but her husband threatened to set her on fire again if the captive himself asked for help.

The victim was rescued by law enforcement, but it was not stated how they learned about the incident.

A criminal case was opened against the suspect. At one point, the spouse requested that the case be dismissed due to the parties’ agreement, and his request was granted.

The prosecutor’s office found this court decision unlawful. The Supreme Court of Bashkiria sent the necessary materials for a new hearing to the court of first instance.
