Canadian scientists from the University of Quebec and the University of Moncton have identified the basic psychological aspects that ensure a happy life. The study was published in the scientific journal magazine Motivation and Emotion (MOE).

The team focused on factors such as passion for interesting activities and self-motivation to complete less exciting tasks, such as housework.

The researchers conducted five experiments involving young adults over several years, using a combination of surveys, daily diaries, and longitudinal methods to assess participants’ levels of passion, self-regulation, emotion, and general well-being.

Results showed that daily harmonious experiences of passion and self-motivation were associated with more positive emotions and increased feelings of well-being.

Moreover, scientists have found that it takes six months to develop a happy sense of self, during which time a person must maintain a balance between things that are interesting to him and routine tasks.

According to experts, this discovery highlights the importance of having at least one hobby that makes one want to do it every day. Over time, such a hobby helps to achieve a general sense of well-being in life.
