Orbán predicts Ukraine will “never win” and peace will be in 2024
Hungarian prime minister, ultranationalist Viktor Orbán, predicted on Saturday that Ukraine would not win the war against Russia and that peace would not be achieved until the next presidential election in the United States in 2024.
“Ukraine will never win against Russia,” Orbán said at a rally held by Romania’s Hungarian minority in the Romanian town of Baile Tusnad. “There will never be Russian-Ukrainian peace talks,” he added, as Moscow wants security guarantees.
Considered Russian President Vladimir Putin’s best ally in the EU, the Hungarian president assured Moscow that he would only negotiate with Washington, and with Democrat Joe Biden, the current head of the White House, hinted that this would not be possible. “The first real possibility of peace in Ukraine will be in 2024, when the presidential elections will be held in the United States,” the ultra-conservative leader said, implying that the Democrats will lose this election.
