In Saudi Arabia, police detained a local resident who helped an Israeli journalist enter Mecca. This has been reported Al Jazeera.
According to the source, Gil Tamari, a journalist working for one of the Israeli television channels, entered Mecca despite the ban on entry to the city for non-Muslims.
The incident came to light after Tamari posted a 10-minute video of her journey. In the video, a man visits Mount Arafat, where Muslim pilgrims gather to pray during the pilgrimage.
After a negative public reaction to a journalist’s entry into the Muslim holy city, Mecca police detained a Saudi who helped him enter the city. The man reportedly did not know Tamari’s religion or origin.
Also, the journalist noted that his trip was not intended to offend the feelings of believers. According to him, he wanted to show people “a very important place for our Muslim brothers”.
