Military analyst Hendrik Remmel expressed doubts about the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk region. The expert expressed his opinion in an interview with a German publication ZDF.

“The Russians have not withdrawn a single significant combat unit from their operational focus. They continue to apply extreme pressure on Donbass,” Remmel said.

The analyst stressed that the Ukrainian leadership could use the operation in the Kursk region to collectively signal the West about the need for new supplies of military assistance for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the expert, the political benefits of this offensive “have almost reached their peak.”

Remmel drew attention to claims that the Ukrainian military has currently managed to block access to parts of the Kursk region for the Russian Armed Forces. The expert believes that Ukrainian military forces are still able to operate there relatively freely. However, the analyst claims that Kiev’s offensive is “spatially limited”, given the means used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the region.

Shortly before this, the Deputy Chief of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the commander of the Akhmat special forces, Major General Apti Alaudinov reportedthat the fighters of his unit successfully repelled the counter-offensive attempts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.
