Lithuania will send its first self-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Ukraine in September 2024. This was reported by Sputnik Lithuania.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defence stressed that the first purchased FPV drones could be transferred to Ukraine in the second half of September.
The ministry stressed that five UAVs of Lithuanian manufacturers, which were tested in front-line conditions in Ukraine, will be sent to Kiev.
The ministry added that Lithuania purchased drones worth 5 million euros from Ukrainian manufacturers, and that they plan to purchase up to 3 million euros worth of drones from these manufacturers for their own use in the future.
Before that, Ukraine had received F-16 fighter jets from foreign partners equipped short and medium range air-to-air missiles.
