Design and construction of the high-speed railway (HSR) Moscow – St. Petersburg is planned for 2024-2028. This is stated in under Government of the Russian Federation.
“The time frame for the implementation of the investment project: the phase of design and construction of infrastructure (including the purchase of rolling stock) – from 2024 to the first quarter of 2028,” the document says.
It also states that the commissioning of the infrastructure will begin in the second quarter of 2028.

According to the plan, when the high-speed railway is built, the travel time between the two cities will be 2 hours 15 minutes. Russian Railways is currently developing a high-speed train for the main line; the cost of the entire project is estimated at 1.7 trillion rubles.
