Police in India have detained four local women on suspicion of stealing jewellery worth millions of rupees. reports News9 Live edition.
The incident occurred during a religious festival in the village of Narva in the state of Rajasthan. During the celebration, a group of thieves consisting of 4 women and 2 boys stole gold chains from guests. Locals noticed the criminals and began to catch them. The children managed to escape, but the women did not have time to leave. The crowd held them until the law enforcement arrived.
Police took the suspects to the police station but did not find any material evidence of the thefts. Later, law enforcement decided to send the women for X-rays; the images showed the presence of gold jewelry on the stomachs of all the detainees. According to preliminary information, the value of the stolen jewelry was about 2.5 million rupees (more than 2.6 million rubles).
