Deputy Governor of the Vologda Region Georgy Filimonov, in his speech at the Youth Day, read an English rap song to show that he is open to everything new. He told socialbites.ca about this. Filimonov noted that the performance was improvised.

“With my impromptu speech, I wanted to emphasize that a true patriot of Russia is a person who does not isolate himself in his own culture, is not isolated from the global cultural context, including subcultures. My team and I try to avoid stereotypes and welcome different areas of sports and cultural activity. We plan to expand the Vologda street sports festival “Breath of the Streets” to provide continued support for young people in these areas. “As for the narrative I read, I wanted to convey the atmosphere that confirms my main thesis as follows: You cannot isolate yourself in any cultural movement, you have to be open to everything new,” he said.

Filimonov also explained that he demonstrated various elements of capoeira at the festival, as he had previously devoted a lot of time to this martial art.

“I devoted a lot of time to Capoeira. At the same time, I continue to exercise constantly: I run in the morning, do push-ups, push-ups. “The habit of exercising regularly was instilled in me by my father since childhood and this helps me a lot in maintaining my tone and performance,” he said.

The day before, on June 29, Vologda Region Deputy Governor Georgy Filimonov congratulated residents and read a piece by the “Run-DMC” group. Later, he and other participants of the event demonstrated various elements of capoeira.
